Kenya XI, Zimbabwe XI win in warm-ups against Ireland XI,Netherlands XI

Zimbabwe XI, Afghanistan XI and Kenya XI registered impressive wins in their final warm-up games before the teams head to the sub-continent for ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, on Tuesday.

Zimbabwe XI, Afghanistan XI and Kenya XI registered impressive wins in their final warm-up games before the teams head to the sub-continent for ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, on Tuesday.

At the Dubai Sports City Stadium, Zimbabwe XI beat Netherlands XI by 115 runs. After opting to bat first, Zimbabwe XI posted 249 for 8 in its 50 overs. Zimbabwe XI's opener Brendon Taylor yet again batted well scoring 56 off 79 balls. Graeme Cremeer made a brisk 42 off 42 balls. For Netherlands XI, Muddasar Bukhari (3-42) and Bernard Loots (3-50) were the best bowlers on view.

In its chase Netherlands XI struggled, as Chris Mpofu (3-31), skipper Elton Chigumbura (3-32) and Sean Williams (2-5) starred with the ball for Zimbabwe XI. Only Alexei Kervezee (33) and Bukhari (28) offered any resistance.

At the ICC Global Cricket Academy Oval-1, Kenya XI's Nehemiah Odhiambo (4-28), Thomas Odoyo (2-26), Peter Ongondo (2-28), Elijah Otieno (2-33) comboned well to bowl Ireland XI out for 176 in 49 overs. Ed Joyce's 56 was the best knock on view for Ireland. In its chase Kenya XI was well served by former captain Morris Ouma's 56 off 93 balls. Nigle Jones (2-24) and Andre Botha (2-22)'s spells went in vain as Kenya XI won by three wickets.

Afghanistan XI captain Hamid Hassan (3-28) combined well with Ashraf (4-39) and Shapoor Zadran (2-18) to bowl out Canada XI for a mere 105. Afghanistan XI chased down the modest target in 23.3 overs and with five wickets to spare to dent Canada XI's build-up to ICC CWC 2011.
