West Indies hammed Australia by a massive margin of 74 runs to storm into the Finals of the ICC World T20 2012. The Darren Sammy led team will now challenge hosts Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in the big final on Sunday.

West Indies hammed Australia by a massive margin of 74 runs to storm into the Finals of the ICC World T20 2012. The Darren Sammy led team will now challenge hosts Sri Lanka at the R Premadasa Stadium in the big final on Sunday. Chris Gayle was the star of the West Indian win bulldozing the Aussies with a knock of 75* (from 41 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes).

Chasing West Indies’ mammoth target of 206, Australia collapsed to 131 all out in 16.4 overs. The Aussies at one stage were at an embarrassing 43 for 6 by the 8th over but a sparkling knock from Skipper George Bailey (63 from 29 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes) brought some respectability to the total in the end. West Indies had the match sealed in the 5th over itself when dangerman Shane Watson (7) was clean bowled by Samuel Badree. Lots of bowlers got amongst the wickets for the Windies. Ravi Rampaul was the most successful bowler taking 3 for 16.

Chris GayleEarly on, West Indies were powered to a huge total of 205 for 4 in 20 overs with Chris Gayle batting right through the innings. Marlon Samuels with 26 (from 20 balls) and Dwayne Bravo with 37 (from 31 balls) complemented him in solid partnerships. The finishing blows along with Gayle came from the out of form Kieron Pollard, who pounded the Australians with a 15-ball 38 not out with 3 fours and 3 sixes.

Toss and Teams: West Indies have won the toss and elected to bat first in the 2nd Semi Final against Australia at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The winner of this match will play Sri Lanka in the Final day after tomorrow.

David Hussey comes into the Australian XI finally and making way for him is Glenn Maxwell. West Indies have made one change with Dwayne Bravo replacing his brother Darren Bravo and playing as a specialist batsman because of his injury.
