Unlike the last time, Australia may not have the likes of Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, Simon Katich, Andrew Symonds in their side, but they do have talented youngsters in their side. They might lack experience but they are high on potential. Let’s take a quick look at them:

Unlike the last time, Australia may not have the likes of Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, Simon Katich, Andrew Symonds in their side, but they do have talented youngsters in their side. They might lack experience but they are high on potential. Let’s take a quick look at them:
Shaun Marsh: The elder son of Geoff Marsh broke into the international scene in 2008 when he played some blistering knock for Kings XI Punjab. Immediately after his IPL stint, the left-handed Shaun got an ODI call for Australia. Since then he has played 36 ODIs and scored one ton and 8 half-centuries. But it took him 3 years to make it to the Test team. Shaun made his debut against Sri Lanka in August this year, and since then has played 3 Tests and made a century and a fifty.
He had impressed the Waugh brothers with his prowess and that’s saying something. If he fires, India certainly have a few things to worry about.
Daniel Christian: He will be expected to do what Symonds did. And before you think of his on-field antics, we would like to clarify that it’s the job of an all-rounder that Daniel Christian is expected to fulfill efficiently. Having impressed one and all since his first class debut in 2008, Daniel took almost 3 years to make it to the national team. He broke into the T20 side in 2010 and a year later he is ready for his Test debut, and that can be attributed to his impressive domestic season. But we will have to wait as Christian seems to be left out of the playing XI for the Boxing Day Test.
Ed Cowan: Though he made his first-class debut in 2003, Cowan really got the chance to bloom when he moved from New South Wales to Tasmania. But after some time, Cowan struggled with his form. But soon before India’s tour of Australia, he hit form in the domestic circuit and scored four centuries in four matches. This gained him a Test call. This in-form batsman can pose serious threat to India’s chances which he had already done at the Manuka Oval in Canberra as he stroked his way to a century against the touring party.
Nathan Lyon: This is one interesting story. A curator turns into a cricketer and within a year his life turns upside down. Making his first class debut earlier this year, Lyon has picked 44 wickets in 14 matches. He made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in August this year and since then has played 7 Tests and picked 14 wickets. Can this classical off-spinner test Indian batsmen, who are equally good at tackling spinners? Well at best, Lyon could be used by Clarke as someone who can give the rest for the fast bowlers at one end. We will have to see if the Indian batsmen go after him or treat him with respect.

James Pattinson: He is one of the brightest pace talents in world cricket. Pattinson made his Test debut against New Zealand and picked 5 wickets. He is one pacer who has the ability to hit the bat hard. In just 2 Tests, Pattinson has picked 14 wickets. He certainly is a bowler, India batsmen will be careful against. This 21-year-old is a giant who can bowl at red hot pace while getting the awkward lift off the track. India have played a similar bowler in the form of Steven Finn recently in the Series against England.Enter Blog Content here.
