The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed to Cricket Australia that India will not play a day-night Test match during their tour to Australia during the end of this year.

While Cricket Australia wanted a pink-ball Test, India has refused to comply. In fact, the Indian team management has told the Committee of Administrators the India will need about 18 months to prepare for a day-night Test. Acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary was then asked to convey the message to CA chief executive James Sutherland.

“I am directed to say by the Committee of Administrators that India would begin to play in the format only in about a year’s time. Under the circumstances, I regret to say that the proposed D/N test cannot be played and all tests will have to have the conventional structure,” Choudhary was said to have written in an e-mail to Sutherland.

Australia have won all the four day-night matches they featured in. Among Indians, only Cheteshwar Pujara and Murali Vijay have played day/night matches in Duleep Trophy.
