Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary has quashed all reports of an alleged rift between skipper Virat Kohli and coach Anil Kumble.

There have been constant reports that Kumble's contract that ends after the Championship Trophy may not be extended, and that the reason behind the same is the alleged problems between Kumble and Kohli.

"There is no smoke. I keep speaking to the players. The appointment was made for a period and a process had to be followed after that,” he told NDTV in an interview.

On whether he was happy with Kumble's performance, Choudhary added, "Not only me but the entire country is happy with Anil Kumble's performance but it is up to the Cricket Advisory Committee.”

Meanwhile, Virender Sehwag, Australian Tom Moody and Richard Pybus among others are said to have applied for the post of India's coach.

The BCCI has earlier issued a press release asking for applications for the post of Head Coach for the Indian men's cricket team. The deadline for the same was Wednesday.
