Delhi Capitals will look to carry on their good form when then take on an inconsistent Chennai Super Kings in match number 34 of IPL 2020 at Sharjah in the evening game of the Saturday double-header. Delhi are one of the favourites to win the tournament, and are currently placed second with 12 points from eight games. CSK, on the other hand, are somehow hanging on, having registered three wins in eight matches. Every defeat from hereon will only take Chennai closer to the exit door.

Delhi though would be worried with the shoulder injury their skipper Shreyas Iyer picked up in the match against the Royals. His form with the bat, and calm captaincy have been central to DC’s success this season as well. His possible unavailability will be a definite jolt to Delhi. The team will also hope Ajinkya Rahane can get among the runs at the crucial number three slot.

Unlike in the past, Chennai will go into the contest on Saturday as underdogs. They did get past SRH, but need to keep finding ways to win. The move to promote Sam Curran to open the innings was a bold one, and his sprightly knock set the tone of the contest. While Faf du Plessis had a rare off-day, CSK will be pleased with the fact that Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu have been constantly among the runs, although the latter’s strike rate remains a concern.

CSK mixed their bowling around nicely against SRH, with Deepak Chahar finishing his quota early, and remaining economical once again. The presence of leggie Karn Sharma has definitely added teeth to the Chennai attack. With the regulars Dwayne Bravo and Shardul Thakur firing, CSK seem to be rising from the Ashes. But, they cannot falter at this stage.

Head-to-Head Record: CSK hold the edge over Delhi with 15 wins and seven losses. But, the past record will matter little.

DC Predicted XI: Shikhar Dhawan (C), Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Alex Carey (WK), Marcus Stoinis, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Tushar Deshpande, Kagiso Rabada, and Anrich Nortje

CSK Predicted XI: Sam Curran, Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C and WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Piyush Chawla, DJ Bravo, Shardul Thakur, Karn Sharma, and Deepak Chahar

Pitch Report

The pitch at Sharjah is definitely slowing down. Spinners are having their say, and batsmen will need to get their eye in before taking on the bowlers.

Weather conditions

Conditions will be hot with temperatures hovering in the mid-30s. Humidity will be low.
