Some good pace bowling from Mumbai Indians saw Kolkata Knight Riders struggle to reach a modest total of 140 for 7 at the Wankhede Stadium in Match 65 of IPL 2012. Munaf Patel, who had a terrible last game bounced back in style to produce figures of 4-0-17-1.
The real star for Mumbai Indians wasn’t Munaf but RP Singh who made all the difference by taking the big scalps of Brendon McCullum (lbw) and Jacques Kallis (clean bowled) in consecutive deliveries in the 2nd over.
Mumbai Indians dominated the proceedings after RP’s double blow and things looked real bad for KKR when an in-form Gautam Gambhir (27 from 23 balls with 3 fours and a six) got bowled by Kieron Pollard making it 44 for 3 in 8.3 overs. Manoj Tiwary did some damage control for KKR scoring 41 from 43 balls with 2 fours and 2 sixes but he couldn’t carry his stay right till the end of the innings.
KKR scratched along to finish with 140 for 7 with Yusuf Pathan collecting an unbeaten run-a-ball 21 with 2 fours. RP Singh was the pick of the bowlers for Mumbai Indians with 2 for 31 in 4 overs.
