In their last match, Gujarat went down to the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by eight wickets. Batting first, they were restricted to 143 for 8. Shubman Gill experienced another failure while the likes of Hardik Pandya, David Miller, Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan all had a bad day with the bat. Sai Sudharsan though impressed with his unbeaten 65.
There was really nothing much the bowlers could do with a low score to defend. They have a strong bowling attack with the likes of Rashid Khan, Lockie Ferguson and Mohammed Shami aided by Alzarri Joseph and Pradeep Sangwan.
GT predicted XI: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Pradeep Sangwan, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami
After eight straight losses, Mumbai finally ended their jinx and defeated the Rajasthan Royals (RR) by five wickets in their previous match. Their bowling set up the match as Riley Meredith and Hrithik Shokeen claimed two scalps each while Kumar Kartikeya made an impressive debut with figures of 1 for 19.
The batting remains a worry with openers Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma struggling to score. However, the middle-order lifted them to a fine win with Tim David, Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma all contributing. MI would be desperate for some runs from Kieron Pollard.
